ARC Raiders player crawled nearly a kilometer for extraction in 25-minute downed journey
ARC Raiders fan Spare_Cartoonist_892 shared a story of a 25-minute crawl to extraction in the extraction shooter, covering almost a thousand meters while downed. The attempt to save gear ended tragically – a stranger sacrificed himself trying to call an extraction in the final 30 seconds, but both perished in the bombardment.
The story began during a night raid on the Bright Sands map. The player checked active airshafts for extraction – Overlook Airshaft and Forest Airshaft were inactive, with Warehouse Airshaft being the nearest operational one. While exploring the Ruined Homestead, a leaper knocked the character down. The loadout included two Wolfpacks, a Survivor Kit, and a Level 4 Anvil – relatively budget gear worth around 15-20 thousand in-game currency. With 25 minutes remaining in the round, this prompted the decision to test the survival mechanics.
The key element was the Looting Survivor Mk3 level three augment – a modification allowing infinite crawling while downed. The mechanic works through health regeneration when stopping movement – the player crawls, stops to restore HP, then continues. Without this augment, characters bleed out in 90 seconds. However, users note that even with the modification, the process is extremely slow and risky.
Near Maintenance Bunker, the player heard fighting with ARCs and tried calling for help through emotes – there was no microphone since the raid was on a laptop without a headset. No one responded. 17 minutes remained. At 250 meters from the shaft, a notification appeared that it was closing in 90 seconds. Reaching it was impossible, forcing a direction change toward Cliff-side Airshaft, adding hundreds of meters to the route.
At 11 minutes remaining, a new crawling segment began. Near Reinforced Reception, the player heard a raider shooting snitches and summoning an ARC for a trial. Another attempt to attract attention with emotes failed. 3 minutes left, 250 meters to the shaft. The sound of the airshaft opening confirmed a raider nearby who definitely heard the emote spam, but the shaft didn't close – hope emerged.
One minute before the end, at 100 meters distance, the shaft closed. All hope evaporated. Then suddenly an unknown raider appeared. With 30 seconds before bombardment, he applied bandages for stabilization. Unfortunately, without a microphone, the player couldn't yell "call the shaft, save yourself." Though the raider ran back to the shaft, time had run out – the bomb fell first. The savior died first, followed by the storyteller.
It's unclear why the gamer decided on this "tour," considering the relatively worthless gear. Especially since in that time, several quick raids could net 4-5 times more than the saved equipment was worth.
However, everything depends on personal philosophy, as the storyteller explains:
It wasn't really about the gear or loot. It was the experience of crawling itself. To see if it was possible to crawl that long and survive. Mostly the survival brain kicked in. After that I just didn't give up on my decision.
Everyone plays their own way, everyone finds what matters to them. And it's not always about maximizing something, because the experience is far more valuable.
