How to make glass bottles and windows in Hytale
*Hytale* borrows many mechanics from classic survival games, but some familiar processes work completely differently. Glass is one such example. Smelting sand doesn't produce glass blocks or panels for building, and windows are crafted from an entirely unexpected material. Developers at Hypixel Studios decided to rethink standard recipes, which may confuse players with Minecraft experience.
Obtaining glass through sand smelting
Sand in *Hytale* can be found on the shores of bodies of water. Opening the map, players need to locate a large lake and check its banks for sandy areas – they stand out with a distinctive light color. After discovering a beach, simply break blocks with a pickaxe to harvest the resource.
Loading sand into a furnace starts the smelting process, but the result differs from expectations. Instead of glass blocks, the output is glass bottles. These containers are used with an alchemy table to create various potions or to collect water and other liquids. Getting familiar glass panes for windows this way is impossible.
Crafting windows from wood
Creating windows in *Hytale* doesn't require glass at all. The builder's workbench allows crafting a four-panel glass window from any type of wood. One block of wood produces two finished windows – an economical recipe for large-scale construction.
If the builder's workbench isn't in the inventory yet, it can be crafted on a regular crafting table. The recipe is located on the third tab and requires six blocks of any wood plus three stone. A simple construction that unlocks access to an expanded set of building elements for base development.
