ARC Raiders Wasp Hunter set has the community excited, but it'll cost you
The developers of ARC Raiders have announced a new cosmetic set called the Wasp Hunter, coming soon to all storefronts. You can already wishlist it on Steam, though the price in real currency hasn't been revealed yet – which hasn't stopped players from getting hyped.
The concept centers on a character who doesn't see ARC machines as a threat, but as a parts depot. This raider struts across Topside in armor pieced together from machine wreckage, with the crown jewel being a helmet fashioned from a Wasp's hull.
According to the developers, whenever this raider spots an ARC machine, only one thought crosses their mind: "I want a piece of that." The tagline sums it up:
Move like a Tick, sting like a Wasp.
The set includes:
the Wasp Hunter outfit in four color variants
the Diver backpack in white
the Hoarder Helmet "ARC Hunter"
the Raider Tool "Rocket Hammer". The set will cost 2,400 Raider Tokens, but the real-money price hasn't been disclosed yet.
The purchase also grants 2,400 Raider Tokens to spend on other cosmetics in the shop. That detail is actually what frustrated some players:
"Why would I want tokens and other skins when this one is already epic?"
"More skins, now for money. Can I get maps and robots instead?"
"Focus on gameplay updates, nobody cares about these ugly skins."
"I bought the Deluxe Edition. Do I have to pay for this too? Why?"
That said, positive comments far outnumber the criticism:
"Could this set possibly look any cooler?"
"The skins are looking much more polished and refined than a couple months ago. The devs are starting to show a clearer direction."
"Let us craft something like this: a Tick Capsule, 4 Wasp Drives, 12 rubber parts, and 28 fabrics."
"This set looks absolutely insane. I'm buying it!"
"This skin looks fire! First genuinely great skin since launch!"
Some players also raised lore concerns:
"Isn't there a lore reason why raiders don't walk around in ARC wreckage?"
Alongside the announcement, update 1.20.0 dropped today, bringing a range of fixes and balance changes. The spotlight fell on the Il Toro shotgun, which the developers say has been terrorizing Topside for too long. It's been nerfed to bring it in line with other weapons of the same rarity, with its effectiveness now more tied to upgrades and mods.
Full details on the changes are available in the official patch notes.
