Netflix One Piece season 2 launches with a 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes

One Piece live-action season 2 has launched on Netflix to strong reviews – at the time of writing, the show holds a 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside a 96% audience rating on the Popcornmeter.

The new season covers the Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whisky Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island arcs from Eiichiro Oda's manga. Reviewers describe it as "stronger and confident in almost every aspect."

Critic Perri Nemiroff praised the quality of the sets and overall production: "The quality of the craftsmanship in this series is absolutely off the charts. I thought season one looked great, but season two is on another level." She also pointed to the passion evident from everyone involved behind the scenes.

The AV Club's Elijah Gonzalez echoed the general enthusiasm in a B+ review, though he noted that the show's fight scenes "can't match the escalating intensity of the source material's battle shonen brawls."

ComicBook awarded a perfect 5/5, calling it a "much bigger and more expansive season that fans saw before, and it feels like everyone is much more confident in how they're bringing it all to life."

The strongest endorsement came from Collider's David Caballero, who wrote that the series has "everything going for it to become one of Netflix's all-time best originals" – provided it keeps up its upward trajectory.
