Ubisoft officially confirms the Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake
Rumors about an Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake have been floating around for a long time, fueled by art books, collector's statues, and just about every other piece of merchandise imaginable. It was never really a question of whether the remake existed – just when Ubisoft would finally come out and say it. That moment arrived today.
In a new video on the Ubisoft YouTube channel, head of content Jean Guesdon laid out the future of the Assassin's Creed franchise and confirmed what most people had already figured out – the remake of Assassin's Creed Black Flag is real.
The official title is Assassin's Creed Black Flag: Resynced.
"Speculation around Assassin's Creed is not new, but it's worth repeating: 'Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.' Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon," reads the website update that accompanied the video.
That's essentially all Ubisoft shared – no gameplay, no release window, no concrete details. Still, an official confirmation is something. Insiders have been hinting that more information could come this summer.
On the broader franchise front, Ubisoft also noted that support for Assassin's Creed Shadows is winding down, while development on both Invictus and Hexe continues.
The surprise of the day, though, was the announcement of a 60fps patch for Assassin's Creed Unity, coming tomorrow to Xbox Series X and PS5.
