Resident Evil Requiem on PS5 Pro is the best console version by a wide margin
Digital Foundry has published a technical breakdown of Resident Evil Requiem, and the results speak for themselves: PS5 Pro pulls ahead of every other console by a clear margin. The outlet praised the detailed environments and character models across all platforms, but the PS5 Pro version was singled out as one of the best-executed enhanced games on the system to date.
PS5 Pro owners get two graphics modes. The first targets 60 fps with ray tracing enabled – frame rates hold steady with only minor dips in demanding scenes. Resolution stays "close to native 4K" thanks to temporal upscaling from a 1080p base.
The second mode targets 120Hz but drops ray tracing, taking some of the eerily convincing atmospheric lighting with it. Frame rates are less stable here, frequently settling around 90 fps, and distant objects can lose sharpness or show some distortion.
Even so, Digital Foundry concludes that the 120Hz mode on PS5 Pro still holds up well compared to the base console – delivering smoother gameplay at the same level of visual detail seen in the 60 fps mode on a standard PS5.
The absence of ray tracing isn't a dealbreaker either, as the detailed environmental geometry remains expressive without the extra lighting effects.
PS5 Pro has taken its share of criticism for weak support from both Sony and third-party publishers – some titles that struggled on other platforms launched without any Pro upgrade patches at all. Against that backdrop, Resident Evil Requiem stands out as a welcome exception and looks set to be one of the more thoughtfully implemented enhanced titles on the platform.
PS5 vs PS5 Pro vs Xbox Series X vs PC comparison:
The Xbox Series X version is on par with the base PS5 according to Digital Foundry, with fine details on Leon and Grace's clothing rendered clearly on both systems.
Nintendo Switch 2 is also showing promising early results despite its lower hardware ceiling, with a full technical breakdown for that platform still to come.
