New Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss trailer shows the opening minute of the Lovecraftian horror

A new trailer for Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss has dropped, showing off the game's opening moments. The Lovecraftian horror is set to launch in April on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.

Players step into the shoes of Noah – an investigator who specializes in occult phenomena. He's sent to look into the disappearance of miners at an underwater mining facility in the Pacific Ocean.

The story takes place in 2053, but Lovecraftian dread hasn't loosened its grip on the world – the game leans fully into the subgenre's atmosphere.

The trailer opens with a montage of events that sets the stage for Noah's descent into R'lyeh. His sanity – and by extension the player's – will be pushed to the limit, while Cthulhu waits patiently, tightening its hold on anyone who dares venture into the abyss.

Noah won't be going it alone, though. Alongside him is Key, an AI companion who assists in a variety of ways and serves as the only reassuring voice amid the surrounding darkness.
