A fan added X-Men to Baldur's Gate 3 with Wolverine, Storm, and more mutants
Players are constantly adding new races and subclasses to Baldur's Gate 3. Some are based on official D&D rulebooks, others are homebrewed creations. One fan, however, took things further and turned Tav and companions into everyone's favorite mutant superhero team – the X-Men.
The Mutant Powers Marvels X-Men mod by Aureilius2112 brings several characters from the mutant team to the PC version of Baldur's Gate 3, effectively turning it into an X-Men RPG. Rather than using their iconic comic book outfits, the mod dresses each character in modified in-game gear, giving the whole team a convincingly medieval look.
The roster includes Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Magik, Colossus, Emma Frost, and Iceman. Each is assigned a class that fits their powers – Storm becomes a Storm Sorcerer, Wolverine gets the Berserker Barbarian treatment. Characters draw from a mix of existing in-game spells and abilities alongside some custom-built ones created specifically for the mod.
Most of the characters also come with flavor dialogue pulled from the original X-Men animated series. The creator is still actively expanding the mod, asking fans to vote on which character to add next and tweaking abilities with each update.
Players still have full freedom to level up and multiclass the team.
"Characters can easily be multi-classed for interesting combinations," says the description. "For example, taking a level of Wizard on Psylocke would give her access to Telepathic Bolts to round out her psionic abilities. Or maybe taking a level of Tempest Cleric on Storm for increased lightning damage and access to create water."
