DICE promises to fix Battlefield 6's useless light vehicles in upcoming tests

Battlefield 6 has a serious problem with its light ground transport. The LGT is so useless that players routinely ignore entire fleets of available jeeps and choose to run across the map on foot instead. With four seats, a single turret gunner, and zero protection from bullets or mines, hopping into the game's only transport vehicle is basically announcing to the whole server that five free kills are on the way.

Four months after launch, the LGT is just as worthless as it was on day one. Almost nobody uses it for its intended purpose, and those who do usually get blown up or bail within seconds. When PC Gamer sat down with two DICE developers to discuss Season 2, they asked directly when jeeps would stop being death traps.

DICE hardware producer Kit Eklöf confirmed the studio is aware of the issue and working on a fix. A Battlefield Labs test focused specifically on vehicle improvements is coming soon.

"We are going to try a package of vehicle improvements on Labs very soon, so keep an eye out for that."

That's encouraging, though it stings to know that a meaningful fix for Battlefield 6's vehicles is still weeks away at minimum. The Labs platform at least allows for thorough testing before changes go live – but even a half-baked set of buffs for the LGT pushed out tomorrow would be an improvement over the current state.

Hopefully tank buffs are part of the package too, since armored vehicles across the board feel like they're made of thick cardboard. The sheer number of rockets engineers carry around these days, combined with the general popularity of the SMG class, has cut the life expectancy of even a skilled tank driver down to somewhere between two minutes and "exploded like a firecracker the moment you climb in."

The state of vehicles in the game is rough – which is a strange thing to have to say about what are supposed to be some of the most powerful tools in Battlefield 6.
