Baldur's Gate 3 fans share favorite ways to create chaos without consequences

Playing evil in Baldur's Gate 3 offers a fresh experience, but it comes with a major downside – killing NPCs and making sacrifices means losing entire storylines. However, nothing stops you from simply getting on everyone's nerves. The fan community has compiled a collection of favorite pranks that let you have fun without becoming an actual villain.

Recently, one gamer (toastedjupiter) shared plans to run through the game as a mischievous bard who "does love messing with things they shouldn't be," and asked the community for ideas. The responses range from selecting specific dialogue options to deliberately messing with characters.

The most popular choice turned out to be desecrating Vlaakith's portrait in the githyanki crèche. The Lich Queen inspires fear and reverence among her people, but a drawn-on Van Dyke and monocle make her far less intimidating. It's especially hilarious if you make Lae'zel do it.

Another classic choice – interrupting the bugbear and ogre's intimate moment in act one. Bonus points go to those who manage to get the pair fighting each other.

Act three offers a separate masterpiece – at Sorcerous Sundries, merchant Tolna Tome-Monger asks you to keep your voice down because the books are sensitive to noise. You can continue the conversation in whispers, or you can loudly ask: "IS THAT TRUE, BOOKS? ARE YOU SENSITIVE?" The result exceeds expectations.

Nobody likes Balthazar (well, maybe with rare exceptions), and one player found the perfect way to deal with him. The Knock spell lets you unlock the door behind which the necromancer and his minions are hiding, drawing them into battle with the resurrected Dark Justiciars. Once everyone's in the same room, simply walk through the door and seal it with Arcane Lock. While Balthazar battles the horde, you can safely enjoy some mushroom soup.

Among other popular options:

  • Stealing Balthazar's mother's ashes and taunting the necromancer with them

  • Making the kid Mattis flip his coin over and over again

  • Insulting the djinni and getting turned into cheese

  • Poisoning the goblin camp's food cauldron and releasing spiders on them

  • Waving at Vlaakith during a personal audience

The last one, however, requires caution – overly bold behavior results in instant character death.
