Solo Leveling fans believe the anime will return in late 2026 as a movie instead of season 3
Solo Leveling fans conducted their own investigation and concluded the anime will return soon. A year after the second season finale, the studio has yet to announce a release date for season 3, continuing to raise questions and concerns among fans. However, recent leaks from the production committee point to an unexpected twist – the franchise may continue not with a season, but with a feature film, similar to Demon Slayer.
Information about the franchise's plans leaked in late 2025. Instead of a third season, the studio intends to release a feature film continuing the events of season 2. The decision was inspired by the success of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, which broke box office records in 2020 and became one of the most profitable animated films of all time. Chainsaw Man adopted a similar strategy, also achieving success last year.
According to the leak, Solo Leveling's film release is scheduled for late 2026, though production had not yet begun at the time of the report. The date could shift to early 2027 or later – there are doubts about producing a full feature film that quickly. Producer Atsushi Kaneko recently hinted at a major announcement and asked fans to be patient.
The decision to release a film instead of a season will clearly divide the audience. On one hand, film projects receive more production time and expanded staff, ensuring higher animation quality. On the other – fans will lose the weekly episode discussions characteristic of seasonal releases.
