Pirate MMO Sea of Remnants features over 400 NPCs with unique fates shaped by player actions
Joker Studios shared details about the pirate MMO Sea of Remnants. The game's open world includes more than 400 unique NPCs with their own names, daily routines, and dynamic story arcs directly influenced by player decisions.
According to the developers, every resident of the main city Orbtopia lives according to their own schedule tied to real-world time. On weekdays, NPCs go to work, and during leisure time they pursue personal hobbies – for example, attending underground arena fights in the city's backstreets. Each character has food preferences, and some are even involved in conflicts between rival factions within the city.
Every player interaction with characters in the main city gradually influences the final outcomes for NPCs and companions. More than 400 residents have their own progression paths and multiple possible endings.
The relationship system provides players with significant freedom. With the right support, a character could establish a successful business – or fail due to inaction.
Moreover, the developers allow players to sabotage NPCs or even kill those who annoy them. Some characters can be recruited as companions, but the team warns about being careful – each decision affects the fabric of Orbtopia in interesting ways.
Sea of Remnants launches this year on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and mobile devices.
