Dark horror platformer The Irony announced with limb transplant mechanics
Sylopon studio has released a gameplay trailer for The Irony – a dark 2.5D action game scheduled for release in 2027. Players will take on the role of a contract inspector sent by a private military company to the abandoned Underdog Corp. facility. The center served for years as a site for illegal experiments, the results of which now roam freely through its corridors in the form of mutilated cyborgs.
Visually, it all resembles Signalis and classic horror games, but with a different perspective.
The game's key feature will be a survival mechanic through body part loss and replacement. When facing test subjects armed with powerful prosthetics, the protagonist will lose their own limbs in combat. To continue forward, players will have to rip mechanical parts from fallen enemies and transplant them onto themselves. Each such operation makes the character stronger, but gradually strips away their human appearance, affecting the story's ending.
The combat system is built on timing and skillful use of a universal weapon that can transform from a pistol into a melee club. Developers emphasize brutal finishers and a parry system – a precise block not only protects from damage but also opens a window for a devastating counterattack. The project's visual style is inspired by the PS2 era, combining rough 3D models with detailed pixel art.
The Irony will release on Steam, with planned releases on PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch. The game focuses on an atmosphere of hopelessness and body horror, where each character stat improvement is accompanied by visual degradation of their humanity. Developers promise an oppressive soundtrack and levels filled with traps and secrets of the Underdog corporation.
