Stellaris player gets perfect start after setting planets to rare

The galaxy generator in Stellaris sometimes delivers incredible surprises. One player decided to make things harder by setting hyperlanes to 0.5x and habitable worlds to rare. Instead of the expected difficult playthrough with minimal resources, the mighty RNG gifted a perfect start – the starting system got five hyperlanes, and each one led to a habitable planet.

The screenshot shows the central Gir Zana system connected to five neighboring systems – Masqal, Trabalore, Andrussa, Soyun, and Zowod. All contain planets, creating an ideal starting position for expansion.

Comments explained the reason for such luck. The rare planets setting doesn't disable "special" preset worlds that Stellaris generates with unique names, types, and anomalies. One player noted:

Problem is that there’s a genuine bloat of these type of planets, theres a whole host of them where the only thing special about them is their preset type, name and an anomaly or digsite attached, so even on low/rare planet setting it still spawn a whole bunch of em

The community split in opinions. Some joked that three planets would turn out to have 20% habitability, while others added that suitable worlds would likely have primitive civilizations. Still, not everything is bad:

I get a planet, they get to become slaves: I see that as a win-win.

Another player suggested using this map for tall gameplay, controlling just six systems.

Perhaps it's time to launch another Stellaris campaign.
