Red Dead Redemption 2 players spent seven years solving a mystery without noticing the red pentagram at its start
The Red Dead Redemption 2 community continues unraveling the spider web mystery that went unnoticed since the game's release. A recent discovery revealed that the search began in the middle of the puzzle, with the actual starting point completely missed.
The saga started when players discovered spider webs on telegraph poles during specific nighttime hours. The poles feature spider-like outlines pointing toward subsequent clues in this strange and convoluted quest. However, these poles turned out not to be the starting point.
YouTuber Strange Man explained the true beginning of the mystery. Players need to head to the eastern part of the map, to Butcher's Creek. There, between 4 AM and 6 AM, a pentagram appears that leads to five outhouses. These gradually point the way to the poles with spider webs.
This chain of secrets is extremely convoluted. After the poles, the trail leads to question marks on mountain slopes, an inverted question mark shape on the world map, and a pair of telegraph devices. At this point, the path goes cold again.
The puzzle's ultimate goal remains unknown. The solution has awaited its discoverer for seven years – since Red Dead Redemption 2's release. Even former Rockstar employees doubted anyone could uncover the truth.
The community's main objective is completing the quest before GTA 6 launches. This seems realistic, though it's difficult to assess the scope of remaining work. At the current pace, even moving in the right direction counts as an achievement.
