The Housemaid sequel with Sydney Sweeney set to begin filming this fall

Director Paul Feig announced that the script for the The Housemaid sequel is complete, with filming scheduled to begin this fall. Feig confirmed that Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone will both return for their roles.

The sequel, titled The Housemaid's Secret, is based on the second book in Freida McFadden's novel series. The story once again follows Millie Calloway, this time taking a job in the penthouse of a man named Douglas Garrick. She soon begins noticing unsettling things about her new employer's household – all tied to his wife.

The original The Housemaid turned into one of the bigger commercial successes in recent memory, grossing over $394 million worldwide. Critics were fairly receptive – it holds a 73% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In Russia, the film opened in January 2026 and earned 1.3 billion rubles.
