A harmless wish turns into a nightmare in the full trailer for horror film "Obsession"

The full trailer for Obsession is out – and it's genuinely unsettling. Bloody people screaming at the top of their lungs, loved ones staring with a creepy blank gaze, and nervous laughter that makes your skin crawl – all packed into a two-minute clip. The film was written and directed by Curry Barker.

The story centers on Bear (Michael Johnston), who is not-so-secretly in love with his close friend Nikki (Inde Navarrette). Their friendship is solid enough that it could probably survive an honest conversation about feelings. But instead of that, Bear stumbles upon a gag gift called a "One Wish Willow" and offhandedly wishes that Nikki would love him more than anything in the world. What's the worst that can happen?

As it turns out – absolutely everything. Barker finds real horror in the situation, pushing the consequences of that careless wish well past the breaking point. And while the trailer does hint at just how catastrophically things go for Bear and Nikki, it reportedly only shows around 35% of the madness waiting in the full film.

Obsession made the festival circuit last year, earning strong reviews before getting quickly picked up by Focus Features for wide release. Critics have called it "terrifying" and see it as one of those rare, genuinely shocking horror films destined for cult status.
