Quentin Tarantino's next project is an original British farce for the West End
Last summer, Quentin Tarantino announced that his next project would be a stage production in London's West End – but kept the details tightly under wraps. Now we finally know what he's been working on.
Tarantino has written an original old-fashioned British farce, complete with slamming doors, dropping trousers, and mistaken identities.
"He has written this himself. It is not based on any of his films. It is a farce, in the British, Noises Off tradition."
Tarantino himself revealed only this much in a podcast last August: "The play is written. It is absolutely the next thing I'm going to do. We'll start the ball rolling on it in January... It's probably going to take up a year and a half to two years of my life."
The production is expected to hit the stage in 2027, though late 2026 hasn't been entirely ruled out. Tarantino is currently scouting venues of various sizes and configurations – the choice of theatre appears to be central to how the show is staged. There are also whispers that one scene will feature an actor descending on a wire.
Tarantino is also in negotiations with major Hollywood names to appear in the show. None of his regular collaborators – Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt – have any real theatre experience, so who ends up on stage remains an open question. Names like Bradley Cooper, who led a West End production of The Elephant Man a decade ago, have been floated as the kind of talent he might pursue.
