ARC Raiders players are riding Fireflies and getting sent straight to the backrooms
Players of ARC Raiders have discovered that the game's new flying enemies can be ridden – with some unexpected consequences.
As part of the Shrouded Sky update, Embark added new airborne enemies to the game, including combat drones called Fireflies. The community quickly figured out that you can jump on top of one and fly around the map. In theory, this would give you a tactical edge – attacking enemies from above – but in practice, things go sideways pretty fast.
On the ARC Raiders subreddit, user Yeetuus-Deeleetuus posted a simple warning: "DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RIDE THE FIREFLIES."
As the user explained:
"That thing put my ass in jail as its last act of vengeance."
The attached clip shows a player jumping onto the drone and destroying some of its motors from above – but when the Firefly crashes, they end up in a mysterious room with no way out.
Using enemies as transportation is a beloved tradition. Dragon's Dogma 2 let players climb onto griffons and dragons, which could carry them across the entire map – and crucially, without any risk of ending up in a parallel dimension.
The same goes for the dragons in The Legend of Zelda. Whether Embark included this intentionally or not, turning aerial enemies into improvised aircraft is exactly the kind of emergent mechanic the community will keep coming back to.
