Next Xbox is well underway, Sarah Bond confirms in farewell letter
In her farewell message as Xbox president, Sarah Bond confirmed that the next Xbox console is actively in development. The next generation hardware is well underway, though no details have been shared.
Among her achievements, Bond noted that she helped build a more open gaming platform that works across devices and reaches players around the world.
"I'm incredibly proud of what we've built together over the past eight-plus years. PC and cloud gaming are growing faster than ever, our next console is well underway, and together we've helped lay the foundation for a more open gaming platform."
She explained her decision to leave as a desire to take her next step during a transformative era for the industry – and said the moment presents a unique opportunity for fresh eyes and new leadership to guide the team forward.
Bond spoke highly of her successor Asha Pareek, highlighting her deep commitment to players, developers, and the Xbox brand. Pareek brings extensive technology and commerce experience, along with a strong track record of building and scaling platforms at a global scale.
Bond will stay on as a Special Advisor to help ensure a smooth transition and continued success for the organization. She closed her message with three questions that guided her work:
Did I bring my best?
Did I help someone else succeed?
Did I do my best work?
Bond said she hoped the answer was yes for many of her colleagues after eight years at Xbox.
