List of cancelled games by Ubisoft during restructuring

French publisher Ubisoft announced a massive company restructuring in January 2026 that led to layoffs and the cancellation of at least six games. At the time, the only specific title mentioned was the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, but now information about all other cancelled projects has emerged.

According to Insider Gaming sources, the list of cancelled titles includes:

  • Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, announced back in 2020

  • Project Ether, in development since 2019 at Ubisoft Halifax

  • Project Pathfinder (previously known as Project U)

  • Project Crest – a World War 2 extraction shooter

  • mobile games Assassin's Creed Rebellion and Assassin's Creed Singularity. Support for Rebellion is ending, while Singularity was a new mobile project in the Assassin's Creed universe.

Project Pathfinder was previously known as Project U, first mentioned in September 2022 when Ubisoft described it as a "session-based" co-op shooter. Management had doubts about the game's replayability, but ultimately gave it the green light. Concept art for the game can be seen below. It was likely a PvE shooter.

Cancelling two mobile Assassin's Creed spin-offs seems like a logical step as the company looks to reduce risk and focus on core releases in the series. However, shutting down the extraction shooter is surprising given ARC Raiders' success, though reasons could range from development issues to realizing the impossibility of competing with the popular title.

Officially, Ubisoft has only confirmed the cancellation of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, without commenting on other projects from the list. The French publisher's restructuring became one of the biggest shakeups in the gaming industry at the start of 2026 and affected multiple areas of the company's business.
