Manor Lords player builds football stadium, surprising even the game's creator

Developer of the medieval city-builder Manor Lords Greg Styczeń encountered an unexpected discovery while checking a save file from a player who reported a bug in the market goods distribution system. Instead of a typical medieval settlement, the developer found on the map a full-sized football stadium assembled from in-game elements.

I was just inspecting a market distribution bug on this player's save. I don't even know what to say.

Manor Lords has no stadium construction feature or sports mechanics whatsoever, so the player showed ingenuity using available tools. The football pitch markings with center circle and penalty areas were created using dirt roads, leveraging the flexible pathfinding system. The stadium's outer perimeter was built from castle walls through the castle planner, while market stalls were transformed into makeshift stands and VIP boxes around the perimeter. Militia units serve as the football players.

Naturally, this creation sparked enthusiasm among sports fans, with some expressing desire to see it implemented in Manor Lords. Many recalled real medieval football, known as Mob Football, which was significantly more brutal than the modern version of the game.

The irony is that the player essentially broke their town's economy for this construction. The unusual placement of market stalls in the stadium causes logistics bugs, which is why the player contacted support. The developer received not just a bug report, but proof of how creatively players use the city-building tools.

Manor Lords remains in early access, and this year the team promises more regular updates.
